Faith Community Health Ministry

GREETINGS! I’m Shirley Parker LeHue, the Faith Community Nurse, and I am so glad that you have discovered Randall United Methodist Church which is located in beautiful Stanly County, North Carolina. Our church is surrounded by rolling hills and the picturesque Lake Tillery. Thanks to my parents, I have attended Randall since I was a few weeks old. Since becoming a member of the church in 1963, I have served as Church Musician, Sunday School teacher, Lay Servant, and now as the Faith Community Nurse. I am a Registered Nurse who completed my basic nursing education at the Cabarrus Memorial Hospital School of Nursing (Cabarrus College of Health Sciences) in Concord, NC and later completed my baccalaureate education at Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, NC and my graduate nursing education at UNCG in Greensboro, North Carolina. I retired in 2017 after completing my professional nursing career of 44 years at our local, community hospital. A pastor once told me that a person never retires from God’s work! Upon my retirement, I felt that I was being called to continue my nursing career as the Faith Community Nurse for my church community. It has been most rewarding to provide to our community relevant disease prevention/health promotion education and screenings in addition to assisting our pastor with homebound, long-term care, and hospital visitations.
In addition to my professional career, I enjoy walking and reading and my husband and I love both the beach and the mountains as well as traveling across our beautiful nation to visit national parks and historic sites. Outside of North Carolina, one of our favorite vacation destinations is Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Yellowstone National Park where we enjoy snowmobiling and dog sledding. God is present everywhere in the beauty of our surroundings.
I feel that God has blessed me with many spiritual gifts and it is my responsibility to use those spiritual gifts to serve others in the church and in our community. Randall United Methodist Church and beautiful Stanly County, North Carolina are very special to me.
